MMA News: Dana White says Anderson Silva will not be granted interim title shot

If Anderson Silva is serious about his ultimatum to the UFC, we may have seen the last of the longtime middleweight champion.

On Monday, Silva went on The MMA Hour and declared that he would “retire” if the UFC didn’t book him against Yoel Romero at UFC 212 on June 3 in Rio de Janeiro.

Now UFC president Dana White has answered the demand. And the answer is, “no.”

White told TMZ that the UFC would not be giving the 42-year old Silva an interim title shot.

“Every time I’ve, for the last however many years, deal with Anderson, it’s always interesting,” he said when asked about it. “[SIlva] wants an interim title, obviously we’re not going to do an interim title.

“He’s coming out publicly, and you know my philosophy on that. If you ever say the ‘R’ word, you should probably do it anyway, you know? If you’re ever considering retirement, you should probably do it.”

Point blank, White shot down Silva’s demand.
